President’s Update 8/23/23

From Leslie:

Dear Artists, it is my pleasure to inform you of five new additions coming to your community in the next two weeks.
1.) The next ARC (Artist Residency Cohort) group will move into the large corner studio formerly occupied by Graham Dougherty on September 1st. Here is a link to the announcement.
https://www.decontemporary.org/artist-in-residence-program. Look for those four artists and please welcome them to the studios.
2.) TDC is partnering with the University of Delaware to bring a threatened international artist to Wilmington through the Artist Protection Fund. The artist, coming from Afghanistan, will occupy the studio across from Diane Hulse and Margo Allman. This artist will also occupy the studio apartment off the staff entrance to the museum for the term of their residency. Once in the country, I will bring him around to introduce him but if you see him, please extend a welcome as he will undoubtedly be experiencing some transition.

Mark your calendars:

  • August 24, 5 pm - Happy Hour at DAM (thanks for organizing, Jenna!)

  • September 8, 5-9 PM - Art Loop Open Studios - Please fill out this form to indicate what dates you plan to have your studios open during the 2023-2024 season. There are 6 opportunities to participate. 3 are required per this year's lease, more participation is encouraged! (Please let me know if you have difficulties with the SignUpGenius form).

  • September 11 - September 16 - Remove current work from common walls in the hallways. (see attached for more information)

  • September 18 - September 22 - Place 1-3 large or 5-10 small pieces of art in the Archive Room (between the elevator and stairwell on the 2nd floor) to be considered for the common walls. (see attached for more information).

Studio Member Website:

Caroline Chen is working on a website for studio members that will make it easier for us to keep track of information. Tentative preview date for the site: September 8. Thanks Caroline!

Creative Economy Survey:

Creative Economy Survey from the Delaware Arts Alliance. Open until mid-October. (Thanks Roberta for sharing!) https://survey.alchemer.com/s3/7387459/Delaware-cultural-and-creative-industries

Please let me know if you have any questions!

I hope to see you all on Thursday.
