Hatch Gallery

gallery guidelines

Exhibiting:

  • The Studios@ Vice President Caroline Chen is your contact for installation-related questions and concerns.

  • Exhibiting artwork must be newly created; work previously shown at The Delaware Contemporary will not be accepted.

  • Each exhibiting artist should arrive with their work on the scheduled installation/takedown dates unless other arrangements have been made. During deinstallation, please prepare the gallery walls to the same condition as you would want it for your own show.

  • To maintain consistency with the other main galleries, please install your works at the 60-inch eye level and evenly spaced apart. If you would like a tutorial for this format, please reach out to the [Morgan?] Curator or Artist programs manager. The Curator will make arrangements to light the show and install vinyl titles and object labels. Please give advance notice of when your exhibition installation is to be completed.

  • Drinks are available for purchase at every Art Loop; you may offer free refreshments inside your studio; if you would like to offer select guests a complimentary drink ticket, they are available to purchase from The Delaware Contemporary from the Director of Business Advancement.

  • In the case that your exhibition falls on a month in which there is no scheduled Art Loop event, you may host an opening reception, but are required to contact the Director of Business Advancement to schedule a date.

  • Typically, those moving into the studio after the exhibition schedule has been made for the current fiscal year (August 1 - July 31) will be factored into the schedule the following fiscal year.

  • Please contact the Director of Business Advancement [Morgan?] for any special marketing requests related to your exhibition.

Marketing:

  • You will have the dates of each of the three seasons well in advance of the printing of the “Program Guide.” If you would like your Hatch exhibition included in this guide, the title, an image and the description must be submitted one month prior to the opening of the season (i.e. August 9th for September 9th).

  • There are opportunities for Studios@ artists to help market museum programs such as the Artist Open House, exhibiting in the Riverfront Bakery, selling work in the museum shop, and external marketing. Please contact the Director of Business Advancement for any special marketing requests. [lauren]

Artwork sales:

  • The Delaware Contemporary encourages sales of available works in the Studios@ Gallery. Artists will retain an 80% commission on any exhibition sale during the run of their exhibition. If you sell work directly from your studio, you retain 100% of the proceeds. Should you prefer the Front Desk to manage the sale from your studio, you retain 80% of the proceeds. To do so, you must first obtain written permission from the Engagement and Exhibitions Manager [Morgan?] with advanced notice.

  • Every exhibiting artist needs to provide a completed exhibition checklist to the Curatorial Department and Front Desk one month prior to the exhibition in order to sell available work.
